A group of five friends lives through the everyday madness of the sixth form. Alcohol, relationship troubles, arguments — sounds as though it's a youth series like so many others now appearing on Netflix, Amazon and YouTube on an almost weekly basis. The difference: "Druck" has nothing to do with the bland uniformity that otherwise flickers across the screens. "Druck" is different. "Druck" is innovative — and that's why it's so popular. Why is the series so different? Because in "Druck" it isn't high-school footballers and nerds fighting over the one shy, clever and beautiful girl against a utopian backdrop. "Druck" manages to portray the problems of young people in realistic language and makes you feel transported back to your own school days. Lea Zoe Voss is Kiki: Kiki is the naïve one in the group, to whom it matters a great deal what other people think of her. She spontaneously decides to live vegan and does a lot of sport because she is unhappy with her body. She is in love with Alex Hardenberg and ready to make decisive changes in her life for him. Where does DRUCK air? "Druck" is an offering by funk and has appeared on zdfneo and YouTube since 2018. The series is modelled on the Norwegian production SKAM, which began back in 2015 and received much attention and acclaim worldwide. Besides Germany, production companies from France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the USA have also secured the rights to the format. The second season is currently airing in Germany — it has been extremely successful since its launch on 21 December. Over the past 30 days it was viewed nearly 15 million times on YouTube (as of 17 January 2019), with an average of 4,000 new subscribers joining every day.
