Wishes, dreams, visions, realities
We wish for nothing but contented Buddhas, with the occasional overwhelming moments of joy — ideally, frequently.
For our actors and actresses, we want roses to rain down and all manner of wonders to find them. That makes us happy too.
We do everything in our power to make it happen, because we want our artists to succeed. But we can only do what is within our power; for everything else, all we can offer is negotiation — steady persistence, asking, hoping, and at some point knowing when to stop. Casting directors, producers, directors and editors should feel comfortable and want to keep working with us.
An artist's life has never been easy. For the reasons everyone is reading about in trade newsletters at the moment, and given some increasingly puzzling political decisions, there is less money for the arts than ever before. Projects that had already been cast and confirmed disappear before shooting even begins, and those affected have no choice but to watch it happen. We feel responsible for that grieving process with our artists, too.
And it's our job — and our joy — to offer hope and celebrate when a new project emerges. Even one that may not match the glossy expectations of earlier years, but is fun, where the actors and actresses are happy to be on board. We encourage our artists to keep going, to stay visible — and you become visible through everything you do with dedication.
We're happy to coax that little bit of luck without which nothing in our business works; we do it fresh every day, and occasionally — when it helps — with a fitting mantra.
We believe in that too. More precisely: it's Claudia who has the most experience with it.
In that spirit:
om gam ganapataye namaha
om mani padme hum
om aim hrim klim chamundaye viche namaha
