Veronique Coubard

"The question is always how we see each other — and I wish that we could see each other properly."

Anyone who knows Veronique knows: the born-and-bred, city-loving Hamburger is always up for a good chat. Wherever she lived — whether studying acting at the academy in Hanover or for her first ensemble engagement at the Staatstheater Oldenburg — something always pulled her back to Hamburg and into the community of her city.

That she wanted to act and sing was clear to her from her early experiences in the youth performance group Reset at the Thalia Theater. Today she is part of the BIPoC choir Born 2 Sing of Salut Deluxe, the association founded by Hamburg rapper Samy Deluxe.

Writing her own lyrics and songs was already a thing for her early on. It's no surprise, then, that Veronique today is the singer and songwriter of her own pop/indie/RnB band Bold Bloom. With her open, honest, warm-hearted manner, there's never any shortage of real encounter and exchange around her.

Telling stories that reveal new lived realities is what interests her most right now. But fun, absurdity and dramedy are equally indispensable for her when she imagines an interesting character. If she had to describe herself, she'd probably say she's an ensemble animal — working in a team is what fulfils her most.
