"Die Hexenprinzessin" is the story of two very different royal daughters: Amalindis (Zoë Pastelle Holthuizen) is a firstborn twin. She tries to live up to the expectations of her father, King Goderic (Ken Duken), and dutifully agrees to marry Prince Tanka (Jerry Hoffmann).
The second-born, Zottel (Charlotte Krause), by contrast, feels a kinship with a wolf and is a wild girl who sleeps in the forest and has fallen out with her father.
But suddenly Amalindis is abducted by three witches (Desirée Nosbusch, Jana Pallaske, Caro Cult). Eighteen years earlier, these witches had helped Queen Lioba (Marisa Leonie Bach) conceive the two girls. As the price for this favour, they had granted the firstborn the magic of being a witch herself.
For the eldest of the witches can only survive in the body of Amalindis. Zottel sets out on a dangerous journey to rescue her sister. The unruly princess does not remain alone: Prince Tanka and the ominous witch-hunter Bero (Jürgen Vogel) join her – though not entirely of their own free will.
