UNTERLEUTEN is an ensemble film featuring names such as Ulrich Noethen, Miriam Stein, Alexander Held, Charly Hübner, Bettina Lamprecht, Christine Schorn, Jörg Schüttauf and — nomen est omen — the crowning glory of them all: Úna Lir! In Brandenburg, director Matti Geschonneck has begun shooting the adaptation of Juli Zeh's bestselling novel "Unterleuten". Set more than thirty years after the fall of the Wall, it tells the story of the village of "Unterleuten", where long-established residents guard their secrets and lead a not entirely conflict-free coexistence with the newcomers from the West. When wind turbines are to be erected in the immediate vicinity of the village, that coexistence is put to a very harsh test — interests collide, intrigues are spun, and no stone is left standing upon another.
