Viktoria Ngotsé in the reinterpretation of Verdi's opera on 26 September on MDR
ARD Kultur brings Verdi's opera "Rigoletto" to television as a modern true-crime series, "Der Fall Rigo".
In "Der Fall Rigo", Viktoria Ngotsé plays reporter Franziska, who together with her colleague Roman (Denis "Marshall" Ölmez) investigates the mysterious death of the daughter of failed social-media star Rigo (Michael Kessler). In the course of their inquiry, Franziska and Roman uncover not only the entanglements of Rigo's career but also the dark machinations of his manager, Mantua.
"With this project, ARD Kultur shows that it is possible to present the 'Old Masters' in modern guise and to offer a profound interpretation of a classic work while at the same time honouring the original," says Kristian Costa-Zahn, programme director and Head of Content at ARD Kultur, describing the intention.
Airs on 26 September at 12:25 a.m. on MDR.
