When the Soviet pilot Mikhail Devyatayev (Pavel Priluchny) is taken prisoner by the Germans and ends up in a concentration camp, he soon begins to plan his escape. This is really only possible with an aircraft — but first you have to get to one, and get past Klaus (Patrick Joswig). The cruel guard commandant torments the prisoners and senses that Mikhail is up to something.
