Funny and at the same time touching, the play sees a Bavarian master butcher cross paths with a Congolese asylum seeker. An extract from a review in the Augsburger Allgemeine:
"Hans Stadlbauer as master butcher Franz Maisacher and Dimitri Abold as Alpha Kitenge, together with Joanna Semmelrogge as Maisacher's daughter Zita, conjured up scenes of incomparable comedy, almost slapstick — but also touching, indeed dramatic moments. Heart-warming dialogue and black-and-white wordplay lent the production pep and pace. Bavarian grumpiness, stubbornness and reconciliation often met head-on, and the delightful evening of theatre flew by in no time. Almost more entertaining still than the successful film of the same name (2013), the theatre comedy, directed by René Heinersdorff, let the audience experience a modern fairy tale — set somewhere between grotesque racism and love. As the helpless Zita Maisacher, Joanna Semmelrogge conquered the hearts of the audience. Many small comic moments were also provided by Christiane Rücker and Thomas Stegherr, who filled all the supporting roles, mostly in comedic fashion. Theatre can hardly be more entertaining. And in the end, love even triumphs over every prejudice…"
