For the 20th anniversary of the Kammeroper Köln, "Hello, Dolly!" — a highlight of musical history — comes to the stage of the Walzwerk. The timelessness of the musical, set around 1890, also allows the action to be transposed to the 1960s: the matchmaker Dolly Levi has set her mind on marrying her (financially) most attractive client herself — the miserly shopkeeper Horace Vandergelder. But he has just travelled to New York to propose to the milliner Irene. At the same time, his two apprentices Cornelius and Barnaby have set off for the big city to finally kiss a girl. Things turn out as they must: Irene falls for Cornelius and her employee Minnie for Barnaby. Everyone then meets up again at Dolly's regular restaurant, plus Horace's underage niece Ermengarde and her suitor Ambrose, whom her uncle has rejected. The fourfold happy ending is a foregone conclusion! Last Friday, Steffen Laube premiered as Horace Vandergelder in "Hello, Dolly!" at the Walzwerk in Cologne-Pulheim; further performances are on the following days: 25.5. 7.30 p.m., 26th, 27.5., 2.6. 7 p.m., 3.6. 4 p.m. Director: Holger Müller-Brandes Kammeroper Köln in Pulheim, ticket line: 02238 956 03 03
