Because the perpetrator happens to be homosexual, however, Charles finds himself, in no time at all, the target of a massive media campaign accusing him of homophobia. Yet his actual motives lie somewhere else entirely. Charles will not bow to public opinion, but its pressure becomes an enormous burden: Charles takes refuge in religion, while his marriage threatens to fall apart."
