Concord Floral

Concord Floral

A greenhouse stands at the edge of the town: Concord Floral. To the locals, this disused site, crumbling away over the years, is a place charged with myth, radiating unease from every corner. To the teenagers of the area, it is a meeting point for all the adventures of growing up. At night-time parties, amid drug use and sexual encounters, social pecking orders are settled, dares are taken on and a fleeting sense of belonging is celebrated. Until one night two friends discover the body of a girl there — a find that tears open old wounds and quite literally haunts the teenagers.

As in a mystery thriller, the Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill peels back, layer by layer, the ghosts of the past, weaving a sequence of images — at times poetic, at times brutally realistic — around bullying, the search for identity and conflicts between the generations.

Director Lilli-Hannah Hoepner tells this coming-of-age story with a multilingual ensemble of students from Filmuniversität Babelsberg.
