Sometimes Karl (Hannes Jaennicke) despairs of his 13-year-old daughter Nic (Lisa Bahati Wihstutz). Ever since his wife died, he has had to look after her on his own. Nic stands apart from the other girls her age with her cropped hair and tomboyish style of dress. On the ice-hockey team Karl coaches, she effortlessly outplays her male team-mates with the odd well-placed body check. But everything changes when editor-in-chief Sonja (Julia Maria Köhler) moves in next door and an accident prompts Karl to merge the two flats into a single shared household. Sonja observes the father-daughter relationship between Karl and Nic and starts interfering in her upbringing, especially once she realises that Nic would rather like to be a woman now and then, and that life doesn''t have to revolve solely around ice hockey. When Nic is sent off to dance lessons, the ugly duckling turns into a swan. Katja Brenner plays the dance teacher who conjures the very best out of Nic. "At the costume fitting I found out that I was playing a salsa teacher. Nobody had told me that until then!" Katja Brenner loves to dance; she took ballet lessons as a child, but beyond the basic steps, salsa is not exactly part of her repertoire. After the initial shock, it luckily turned out soon enough that, as the dance teacher, she only had to correct her pupils rather than dance herself. Director Holger Haase then gave the teacher character a touch more comedy than the script had originally called for, which suited Katja Brenner''s acting very well. And so a short shoot on Bodycheck became an unforgettable day, surrounded by wonderful costumes in an atmospheric Berlin ballroom. The comedy will air on Sat.1 in 2017.
