Der Pass

Der Pass

A thrilling and impressive piece of work for Katharina Friedl, one that would have been utterly impossible had Wiedemann & Berg not been willing to make every effort to ferry her to Salzburg for each individual shooting day — from the remotest corners of Germany and overnight, no less. Because she was actually on a theatre tour at the time... Katharina: The work was enormous fun; my on-screen son "Mio" is a really, really sweet boy. On my third day of filming — and THE day on which the big set pieces were realised under the watchful eyes of the press present that day — Mio, my on-screen husband, myself and over a hundred extras spent the whole day wandering around the set like zombies (or, as Julia put it to me at the catering buffet, "like aliens"). Something squeaked and crunched between our teeth; our hair, our clothes — everything "sandblasted", utterly mad. Just how I really looked only dawned on me when, during a short break, I stood facing the mirror in my trailer — and that's how the selfie came about. Sadly I didn't have the pleasure of working with Nicholas Ofczarek, the other lead, or Franz Hartwig in front of the camera, but at least in the shuttle bus, which was veeery entertaining (especially with Nicholas, who has a wonderful sense of humour), and I have to say — working with the directing duo Cyrill Boss & Philipp Stennert was simply exhilarating!
