From today, the debut series by Oscar winner Caroline Link is available in the ZDF Mediathek.
Katinka and Tom run a practice for child and adolescent psychotherapy in Berlin. Here their young clients find a safe space and professional help.
There is, for instance, 15-year-old Nellie (Carla Hüttermann), who suffers from panic disorders, and Sam, a young offender passed from one foster family to the next, or six-year-old Ronja, who bites other children at nursery and has a particularly close bond with her father. Through play and talk therapy, the two therapists try to help the children.
As competent as Katinka and Tom are in their work, so too do they doubt and falter in their private lives. Tom faces new challenges as a father when his teenage daughter Hanna (Ella Lee) suddenly decides to move in with him in Berlin. Katinka has to come to terms with her overbearing father Robert and is having an affair with the married doctor Michael, which causes her increasing pain.
The series shows in gripping fashion how the lives and inner states of the children and adults shift and evolve over the course of several months.
SAFE then airs on ZDFneo from 8 November 2022 at 8.15 pm.
