Father Baptiste, I have sinned!

Father Baptiste, I have sinned!

A delightful comedy, based on the French box-office hit of the same name, yet with a serious core – it is about overcoming poverty in old age, social exclusion, intolerance and xenophobia. The pensioner Paulette leads a rather bleak life in a Paris banlieue. Her circumstances have turned her into an embittered racist: as far as Paulette is concerned, foreigners are to blame for everything. Her meagre pension is nowhere near enough, and part of her furniture has already been seized. One day, however, the sprightly lady hits upon the idea of topping up her finances by selling cannabis. Soon Paulette''s intoxicatingly good hash cookies become a bestseller, and she too rediscovers her zest for life. But the complications are not long in coming …Philip Bender plays the narcotics officer Ousmane, who gets wise to his hash-cookie-baking mother-in-law Paulette. In the same play, Philip also embodies Father Baptiste, who hears her confession. The premiere at Grenzlandtheater Aachen is on 30 January, with performances running until 22 March 2018.https://grenzlandtheater.de/programm/paulette/Director: Uwe Brandt
