His eyes shine with happiness as nine-year-old Paul Eilert arrives on set. It is not his first shoot, but this time he gets to stand in front of the camera for a "proper crime drama", and that makes Paul's heart beat faster. Because crime stories, with murderers and detectives doing the investigating, are exactly what the young actor finds really exciting. Even at the costume fitting, he pesters the wardrobe mistress with questions. Paul wants to know exactly how everything is staged so that the 299th episode of SOKO Köln keeps viewers gripped. The role fits like a glove, because Paul plays a boy named 'Paul' who loves vintage cars — just like in real life. When he meets Sabine Henning at the rehearsal, who plays his mother, his happiness is complete. The two redheads not only look like mother and son, they also take to each other instantly. After the shoot, the charming Paul even manages to get her mobile number so he can drop her a message now and then. But then it gets serious. Director Florian Schott begins rehearsing the scene in which Paul sees the murderer's car and is subsequently questioned by the detectives. He learned a page of dialogue for it with his mother. "I thought it was cool, but unfortunately I didn't get to see the murderer. I'd really love to play a murderer one day, or a detective." So Paul knows exactly what he wants to achieve as an actor, and above all why: "It's funny being a murderer. You sometimes have to run away, then stop again. That's what I want too." Paul savours his shooting day on SOKO Köln down to the very last second. The nine-year-old didn't mind having to wait around now and then at all. "The best thing was that I kept getting chocolate bars!"
I'd Love to Play a Murderer One Day
