We Slavs in Germany

The history of Lusatia and the Sorbs: who were the ancestors of the people who today live between Kamenz and Bautzen? How did this small people, now numbering barely 60,000, manage to survive to this day? What traces have the Slavs, who settled between the Elbe and the Oder in the Middle Ages, left in Germany? No researcher has so far been able to provide conclusive answers to the question of the origin and development of the Slavic population. The documentary trilogy "Wir Slawen in Deutschland" takes up the challenge of closing this gap.To the teaser. In elaborate dramatised scenes and well-founded documentary segments, German television for the first time puts the spotlight on the people who have gone down in history as the "Elbe Slavs". Historical upheavals are told in dramatic arcs of suspense; the viewer experiences the eventful fate of one family over several centuries, from the settlement of the once empty land between the Elbe and the Oder to the assimilation and Christianisation of the last heathens, who lived on as Saxons and Brandenburgers.Broadcasts on Saturdays, 2 December, 9 December and 16 December, each at 11:45 am on MDR
