Shortly after their 25th wedding anniversary in "Das letzte Wort", Stephan (Johannes Zeiler), the husband of Karla Fazius (Anke Engelke), passes away. At first, Karla is irrationally furious at being left behind by her husband. But even before his funeral, genuine anger creeps into her emotional world, for as she goes through his papers she discovers that her husband apparently had not worked for two years and had rented a man cave years ago, where he spent a great deal of time pursuing hobbies — meaning he had kept enormous secrets from her.
After Karla gives vent to her feelings during her eulogy at the funeral, she hits upon a plan to offer this feeling of liberation to other mourners too — and it need not always be about the deceased: she wants to give the bereaved the last word and organise unusual, emotional farewell celebrations. As she does in episode 4, where our Lea Zoë Voss appears as "Lea Cornet".
