The Engine Driver Is a Woman

The cinema feature LILIANE SUSEWIND - "Mit Elefanten spricht man nicht" was filmed last week by Joachim Masannek for Dreamtool in lovely Aachen, and this time the nasty adversary is a woman. The role of the treacherous engine driver SCHWÄRZER was originally male, but cast with Michelle Monballijn it is all the more appealing when the cockroaches are devoured by the soot-covered character. Michelle Monballijn drove the steam locomotive herself; she wanted no stunt double and preferred to be mistress of the steam engine herself, working the three levers in the cab. She also caught the cockroaches herself — she knows no squeamishness there, even when it was rather disgusting, with the critters squeaking in her hand. A bit like the jungle camp. The role was no easy one in other respects either. Michelle had a heavy load to carry with the leather gear and the hair she slept in at night, so that she wouldn't have to go into make-up at 5 am — for the elaborate hairstyle would have taken three hours each time. But we think it was worth it; she looks pretty, at least to anyone who likes girls not only clean and cute, but grubby and cool.
