Madness Has Found a New Home

What happens when two couples move into the house of an old grouch? "Insane comedy," says Mathias Harrebye-Brandt. And he should know — after all, he plays one of the four new residents in the eight-part sitcom. "The five of us had an absolute blast together, and Jochen Busse is a riot anyway. This role fits like a glove." Jochen Busse plays Helmut Kraft, the owner of the once-dream house that increasingly turns into a nightmare house. Helmut Kraft has outlived them all — his wife, his few friends and finally his younger brother Paul too. Nobody left who only wants his money and lives at his expense. But why does his 800-square-metre villa suddenly feel so empty? No question, new housemates are needed — and the old gentleman already knows just how to go about it. Helmut Kraft sells his property to two utterly clueless couples — Mathias Harrebye-Brandt ("Die Pfefferkörner"), Caroline Frier ("Alles was zählt"), Tristan Seith ("Im Knast"), Amelie Plaas-Link ("… und dann noch Paula") — at a disproportionately low price, but with a lifelong right of residence in the attic for himself. And his plan works: from then on, something is always going on in the once-picturesque dream house. To the horror of the old curmudgeon. The actors quickly became so well attuned and worked so wonderfully in their roles that the directors often let the scenes run on, even after the actors had already finished their actual lines, Mathias Harrebye-Brandt recounts. Alongside the five leads, further relatives and assorted hangers-on provide additional tension and great moments of living together. Claudia Neidig brings plenty of friction, as does Grimme Award winner Petra Nadolny ("Switch Reloaded"). And now over to the programmers: "Nicht tot zu kriegen" airs from 9 March, Thursdays at 9:15 p.m. on RTL!
