Martin Semmelrogge is simply unmistakable, and indestructible to boot. The roly-poly man of German acting. Today he shows his fans once again what, alongside his many stage appearances in recent years, he can do in front of a TV-film camera: in "Einstein – Meganewton" (Sat.1, 8:15 p.m., double episode) he plays today — well, what else? — a sly old dog, hard on the edge of being a crook. "Under the direction of my favourite director Thomas Jahn, who also made 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door', I play a swaggering scrapyard businessman. One of those Ruhr-region types who came up from the bottom. He has been married several times — he trades in an older model for a newer one. He invested heavily in his son's law studies, so by chance he has his own lawyer in the house. Not so dumb, eh?" Semmelrogge likes the role. People who know him will immediately think: this role fits. He himself sees it this way: "I like this role, it is a good character part, a sly dog. I could really let myself off the leash again. And — at the moment I am shooting the series 'Falk' for the ARD, and in February in Berlin 'Für Umme'. Well — of course I am not shooting 'for free', that is just the title of the series," laughs the jack-of-all-trades Semmelrogge. Martin Semmelrogge, then, is putting his foot down professionally even harder than on his beloved Harley. And he already has his next goal in sight: "I would love to play an inspector — one of those Columbo types on the streets of Berlin."Einstein - Martin Semmelrogge - 8:15 p.m. Sat.1 on Tuesday, 31 January 2017
