Back to the 60s

SERGEANT PEPPER is the bittersweet story of coming of age in the 1960s. Eva's story, and that of the small hippie community, stands as an example of countless lives of an era. 1968. A girl raised in strict, conservative surroundings breaks out of her old life and joins a travelling hippie band. In an exciting time full of upheaval, an adventurous road trip becomes a journey to herself.Lea Freund is Eva:"We all felt a great urge to jump straight into the VW buses after the shoot and go on a long road trip together, or simply to keep filming together for many more weeks….I had an enormous amount of fun making Sergeant Pepper. It was a wild time with a truly wonderful crew. Surrounded by such marvellous people, the long shooting days sadly flew by far too quickly. The costumes and hairstyles were a feast for everyone, and immersing ourselves in the world of '68 was thrilling. We spent most of our time at the beautiful Grabowsee, where we also filmed in an abandoned sanatorium — that was very impressive and moved us deeply. Luckily there was also a campfire scene, on the very last day of shooting no less, so we could all spend that last night winding down cosily and contentedly by the fire."A graduation film of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg Producers: Daniela Celant & Simon Grzesczak Director: Manuela Bastian
