LAMIA will now celebrate its premiere in competition at Filmfest Hamburg. That delights us greatly.
Nadjim is the uncle of the lead character, Lamia, and in this role Raschid Daniel Sidgi gets to prove that he can not only speak Arabic but do so with an Algerian accent — something that mattered here for authenticity. The story follows a young student in Berlin whose parents have an Algerian migration history. The series recounts Lamia's everyday life and how she emancipates herself from her parents, breaks away and begins to find her own identity.
The picture shows Raschid with his wonderful director Süheyla Schwenk.
