Katarina Witt, the figure-skating luminary from the GDR, wants to reposition herself after the collapse of the GDR and prove her abilities once again. Together with her coach Jutta Müller, Katarina — Kati for short — tries to rebuild her career and prove herself in the newly reunified Germany. Kati is to make her big comeback at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. The film follows her preparation for the competition and the not always harmonious relationship with her coach.
