Jürgen von Manger Prize for Dieter Hallervorden

Jürgen von Manger Prize for Dieter Hallervorden

Dieter Hallervorden receives the "Jürgen von Manger Prize" for his life''s work on 23 November 2013, with Ilja Richter delivering the laudatory address. In 1997, three years after Jürgen von Manger''s death, an idea from the Flottmann-Hallen was taken up to mark the centenary of the town of Herne, and the competition for original stage performers, TEGTMEIERS ERBEN, was brought to life. Held every two years, the event commemorates the outstanding artistic personality, popular actor and comedian Jürgen von Manger and his unforgettable character Adolf Tegtmeier, and is Germany''s first cabaret prize dedicated to a single person. Alongside the support prizes, the town of Herne regularly awards an honorary prize, the TEGTMEIER, to outstanding artistic personalities and original stage performers from the current cabaret scene or the television industry with nationwide renown. The prize symbol is a roughly eight-kilogram bronze "Tegtmeier cap", created by the Recklinghausen artist Heinrich Brockmeier. Each bronze cap is unique, as a new mould has to be made for every cast. In special cases an additional honorary prize, the Honorary Tegtmeier for a life''s work, is awarded. In 2007 this distinction was given the name Jürgen von Manger Prize. Here, too, the prize symbol is the bronze Tegtmeier cap.
