The play runs until 29 June — go and see it! Willi Winzig is probably the best-known and best-loved character created by the great Heinz Erhardt — and that despite Winzig being a tax official. But he is one of the good ones, a quirky, endearing oddball whose compassionate heart keeps tripping him up over the rules he is meant to enforce. He sees the human destinies hidden behind every single tax case and is therefore caught in many a bind, torn between official regulations on one side and compassion on the other. He has always hoped to put off the unpleasant tax files until retirement and leave them to his successor. He simply cannot bring himself to make the citizens pay up, forever imagining the worst consequences: "That woman will throw herself out of the window over a sum like that!" On top of that, he can barely keep on top of the unfinished files; the office grows ever smaller and more cluttered. But his omissions come to light by chance, just a week before his retirement. To prevent his pension being cut, his superior advises Winzig to play the part of a "madman", since being of unsound mind can offer protection from disciplinary measures. Surely that can't end well, can it? A production of the Komödie Frankfurt. With: Thorsten Hamer, Christine Richter, Jens Hajek and others.
