Why Berlin, when you can live in Düsseldorf, film in Cologne and perform theatre in your chosen home? Jens Hajek, at least, does not have the feeling that Berlin is waiting for him. For the dyed-in-the-wool Rhinelander, the location is a stroke of luck, because here he can fully live out his profession in all its facets. So during the week the actor is currently filming "Unter Uns" in Cologne, while at the weekend he rehearses in Düsseldorf for the play "Die Eule und das Kätzchen", which premieres at the Komödie Düsseldorf on 8 August 2017. "It's simply wonderful, because not only can I cycle to the theatre, but working with director Rolf Berg and my stage partner Julia Kelz is also great fun." Like Jens Hajek, Rolf Berg comes from Ratingen. But it is not only their shared home town that connects them; above all it is a great joy in performing. "What distinguishes him as a director is that he works with us on equal footing, makes suggestions, but is just as happy to try things differently — and to step onto the stage himself to show you how it comes across. It's an incredibly lovely way to work. When filming, there is often no time for such precision." "Die Eule und das Kätzchen" is a darkly humorous comedy, full of dramatic twists and witty punchlines that the two characters fling at each other. Doris takes life lightly, dreams of a glorious career in film — and talks non-stop. Felix is an employee at a bookshop and a would-be poet, with a penchant for incomprehensible sentences, on top of being inhibited and awkward. Two people who have absolutely nothing in common. Until Felix denounces Doris to the landlord, who throws her out onto the street. She promptly turns up at Felix's door and, full of fury, demands the "informer" be held to account. What follows is the development of two people towards truth and honesty. When the play opens in August, Jens Hajek too will be running at full tilt. During the week he will continue filming in Cologne by day and perform at the Düsseldorf theatre in the evening. At the weekend, even in double performances. "I like that, even if it's bound to get stressful at times, but it really is an absolute privilege to be able to do both at once. I'm already looking forward to the time ahead!" Die Eule und das Kätzchen, premiere 8 August 2017, Komödie Düsseldorf. Run: 8 August 2017 – 21 September 2017
