Mücahit Altun describes himself as "born on coal", having grown up in Bottrop and spent his youth in Gelsenkirchen. After twelve years of football, he realised he would have to let go of his dream of a professional career. For fear of further injuries, he turned to a less risky sport: boxing.
Ever since drama school, being an actor has been more than just a dream for him — it is a path that has taught him a great deal so far, not least how to be in the moment and to truly listen. Through writing his own scenes and founding his own theatre collective, "Wir wollen nur spielen", he is never bored and feels equally at home in comedy formats and in serious dramatic roles.
