I'd Have Done Anything Just to Be Part of It

It took only a few pages for Hans Holzbecher to know that he wanted to be part of this project. No matter how. "On first reading, the script completely gripped, fascinated and moved me. I immediately grabbed my phone and gave the directors a blank cheque for any kind of involvement on my part in this project. As a cook, as a runner, or even… something in front of the camera." Lucky for the actor, then, that he is not a good cook and, by his own account, too slow as a runner, because it meant he got to do what he does best: act. And as one of the film's leading roles, no less. Hans Holzbecher plays Officer Fisher, who, together with the mother, searches for eleven-year-old Robin. The boy has cancer and has little time left to fulfil his dreams. His father abducts him from the hospital and takes him on a journey to South Africa, where he wants to grant him his last wishes. The story is told through lyrical elements within the plot, because the father is a well-known poetry slammer who recounts on stage the dramatic, beautiful journey with his boy Robin. Robin's mother and the detective discover a code in the verses — a kind of travel diary — that provides clues to the boy's whereabouts. A race against time begins, because every day could be Robin's last. ROBIN is more than 'just' a film. The feature film is the heart of the social fundraising campaign "Watch for Wishes", which collects online donations to fulfil the greatest wishes of seriously ill children. For every click the film receives online, the partners of the "Watch for Wishes" campaign donate a few cents to an organisation that cares for sick children. Every click is worth its weight in gold, since one million clicks have a calculated value of 20,000 to 50,000 US dollars. The final filming is currently taking place in South Africa. Once the film is finished, it will be available to watch online for 14 days at www.watchforwishes.com and on YouTube. The directors and producers hope this will bring not only plenty of clicks, but also an offer from a distributor to bring the film to cinemas. After ten fulfilling days of shooting, with wonderful colleagues and an inspiring atmosphere, Hans Holzbecher found it hard to let go of the project again. "I wish my colleagues the very best the cosmos has to offer for the rest of their time in South Africa, so that even the boldest dreams may come true." Anyone who would like to support this project, and thereby help fulfil the last wishes of seriously ill children too, can become part of the "Watch for Wishes" campaign today!
