GOD’S SPY

GOD’S SPY

Paula Bonhoeffer, whom Nadine Heidenreich portrays in the international production God's Spy, is an educated, clever and exceptional woman. In the photo she is seen alongside her "on-set children" Dietrich (Jonas Dassler) and Sabine Bonhoeffer (Lisa Hofer).

At the beginning of the 20th century, Paula Bonhoeffer raises her children in the Christian faith. She has an enormous influence above all on her son Dietrich — he studies theology and, from 1940, opposes the Shoah as resolutely as he does publicly. He becomes a resistance fighter against National Socialism, is banned from public speaking, and in 1945, after imprisonment in a concentration camp, is executed.

Nadine Heidenreich performs alongside Moritz Bleibtreu (Karl Bonhoeffer) and August Diehl (Martin Niemöller). It is directed by the American director Tod Komarnicki ("Sully"), from whose pen the screenplay for God's Spy also comes. It is strikingly staged by the Oscar-nominated cinematographer John Mathieson, who has worked many times with Ridley Scott.
