On 29 September 2024 at 1:15 p.m. in Cinemaxx 3, the Hamburg Film Festival turns to the endless freedom of the open-air pool.
Moments in which nothing matters but the here and now, in Niederwülst, 1999. The inconspicuous and not especially popular Simon (Tyrell Otoo) has just passed his Abitur, and every door is open for him to become a successful lawyer — just as his successful father Rainer (Benno Fürmann) expects of him.
But instead of attending the law preparatory course as planned, Simon starts working at the kiosk of the Niederwülst open-air pool. The reason for his sudden change of heart is a year older than him, goes by the name of Mira (Anouk Elias) and works as a lifeguard.
For Simon, the summer of his life begins — the only question is when his father will find out.
