Last night was a premiere of superlatives! With "Rheingold", Fatih Akin has brought the autobiography of gangster rapper Xatar to the screen, and last night the film celebrated its premiere at Filmfest Cologne. Everyone sporting tattoos, designer tracksuits, heavy gold chains, gym-honed muscles and dark golden sunglasses had answered his call to the Cinedom. Sadly, the secret of where Xatar hid the gold he stole in 2009 was not revealed last night either — but in return audiences saw a magnificent lead performance from Emilio Sakraya. And a happy Aurel Klug and a happy Marlon Heidel, both proud to have been part of such an extraordinary and hotly debated film.
