DARK

DARK

There is no yesterday, no tomorrow; everything meets in the today. Time is an illusion in Winden. Is this science, or is it philosophy? It remains in the dark — and everything is dark anyway. DARK is an extraordinary journey through time that takes the viewer on a fascinating trip into the abysses of a small town. The plot, set across three decades, and its characters are pieces of a puzzle in a sombre family panorama full of secrets. Everything seems to be connected — that is one of the central themes. Behind the façades of the small town of Winden lurk things that teach us to be afraid, on a small scale as on a large one. The series DARK is set in Winden in the years 2019, 1986 and 1953. Nomen est omen: in DARK it is gloomy, outside, inside the houses and in the minds of the inhabitants. When it isn't simply raining, it is pouring down in buckets, and when, for once, it happens to be dry, dead birds fall from the sky or the sheep drop dead in the meadow like flies. The magic number 33 is an important quantity, and then there is a cave in the woods and the nuclear power plant…. Ella Lee, in her role as Hannah Kahnwald, sits at the bus stop in the pouring rain and asks: "So is this the apocalypse now? Somehow I'd imagined it more lurid."From 1 December 2017 on Netflix - 10 episodes of 50 minutes each Production: Wiedemann & Berg Director: Baran bo Odar Casting: Simone Bär and Alexandra Montag
