Hannes Ducke is finally doing what he loves most again: entertaining people. And Erich Kästner''s comedy Drei Männer im Schnee offers a wonderful vehicle for just that. Ducke plays the servant Johann, who is put through his paces by the eccentric millionaire Tobler. It is a comedy of mistaken identities, full of misunderstandings, which was already a great success at its world premiere on 7 September 1934 at the Schauspielhaus Bremen. Back then, however, the play was staged under the title Das lebenslängliche Kind, because following the Nazis'' seizure of power Erich Kästner had been expelled from the writers'' association on account of his political stance. From then on he published under pseudonyms — Robert Neuner, for instance, in the case of this work. For Hannes Ducke, working on this play in Braunschweig feels "like coming home." He has a long and intense history of collaboration with the Komödie Braunschweig. Ducke helped build the theatre up, in a sense, and performed there for years before turning to other projects once more. Now, after ten years, he is back on its stage for the first time. Contact with Braunschweig never broke off entirely, though. The actor stayed in personal touch with a number of theatregoers throughout all those years. The comedy premieres on 1 December 2016. Then Hannes Ducke and the rest of the ensemble can take the audience along for an evening into the world of Erich Kästner — a world full of wit and humour, where you can simply have a hearty laugh and leave again, at the end, in good spirits.
