A Sadness That Moves You

A Sadness That Moves You

With children we associate bright eyes, mischievous laughter from a chocolate-smeared mouth and life lived straight from the gut, with every extreme from joy to fury. In the process, our view of children whose world is shrouded in a grey veil of sadness and hopelessness is easily lost — for it is painful and leaves us helpless. So how do we open our eyes to it? Director and artist Julie Gaston found a deeply moving, poetic way to do just that and realised it in her production "Eigengrau", made in cooperation with the Frankfurt Alliance Against Depression and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Frankfurt University Hospital. Gerda Böken was very moved by the script and therefore gladly took on the role of Granny Fäfchen.
