At first glance, Paul (Emilia Sakraya) is a perfectly ordinary eighteen-year-old. What no one knows: Paul is bipolar. He is at the mercy of the radical swings of mood in his brain. When a depressive episode ends in a suicide attempt, his single father Hardy (Til Schweiger) has to admit him to a therapy centre for young people with mental illness. At the clinic, Paul meets other young people who are also struggling with psychological problems, among them Caro (Charlotte Krause), who has Asperger's syndrome and therefore finds social interaction and communication difficult. He must decide: does he keep running from his illness? Or does he trust the people who love him enough to be finally ready to accept their help? Paul chooses love, and the realisation that no one has to get through a mental illness alone. For what truly carries us is the courage to show our weaknesses and to let those we love help us.
