His First Time

His First Time

For some, even the first time goes really well. So it was for Christoph Drobig. For he acted for the first time in the ARD's most important early-evening slot, in "Familie Dr. Kleist". And this debut was an outright success. "It was the most pleasant German series shoot I have had so far," the actor sums up. Christoph Drobig is positively effusive when he talks about Tanja Roitzheim, the director. "Tanja Roitzheim is a grande dame of directing. A charismatic and radiantly beautiful, very cool woman. It was simply wonderful to work with her." As it was with the rest of the team too, Christoph Drobig recounts. "A team that treats an episode role like mine so kindly and with such appreciation is not only rare but also special." That, he says, made the whole shoot enormous fun, and as a new actor on the team Christoph Drobig was able to feel at ease straight away.

So that everything would go smoothly on the shoot, he put in plenty of effort beforehand. For his role required Christoph Drobig to be able to play basketball. As Gregor Kleusberg, father of a gravely ill son, he experiences one of his most dramatic moments precisely while playing basketball. So he trained for four weeks, every single day. No outing without his ball and a few dribbling sessions. As far as the producer and the director were concerned, the first episode of "Familie Dr. Kleist" featuring Christoph Drobig may have been titled "Aus und vorbei" ("Over and Done With"), but for them it was not the end — rather the beginning of the collaboration, the actor recounts. At least, that is how it was signalled to him at the farewell.
