Thirteen-year-old Binny (Merle Juschka) moves with her parents into an old villa in Berlin-Pankow and discovers that she has to share her room with an unwelcome housemate: Melchior, played by Johannes Hallervorden, is a ghost, born almost 100 years ago as the son of an ancient aristocratic family. To be rid of Melchior, Binny has to help him solve petty crimes and other injustices so that he can be released from his ghostly existence. And so the reluctant flatshare becomes a detective duo, born of necessity yet far more fun for both of them than either would care to admit. The idea came from Teamworx producer Steffi Ackermann and screenwriter Vivien Hoppe. "The pairing of a real girl and a ghost generates a great deal of humour. We were also intrigued by the question: how many good deeds does someone have to perform before their situation improves?"
