The friends Caro and Daniela meet in Andalusia. Ever since they got to know each other twenty years ago in a shipping disaster, they have been best friends and holiday together every year. But this year the trip turns out to be a special one. At Caro''s request, they return to Cádiz, where they first met. And while Daniela used to like holding conference calls even on holiday, shortly before the trip she lost her well-paid job, the end of the world for the work-obsessed perfectionist. Caro, by contrast, wants to celebrate life to the full: eat the best tapas, enjoy the warm nights, swim in the sea. Daniela is so preoccupied with herself and her own life that she fails to notice that, behind her zest for life, Caro is hiding a secret: she is gravely ill. But Caro wants no pity. She does not want the holiday to be defined solely by her illness. On the contrary: she wants to savour the time and the special moments with her friend. What matters in life? The supposedly carefree holiday becomes for both women a reckoning with the value of life and a test of their unique friendship.
