The Radiologist Is Offbeat

A radiologist is a rather rarely thrilling role; it is always the less technical specialists who take centre stage in the scripts. The gynaecologists, the paediatricians, the cardiologists — but this radiologist, Tarik Coskun in the new RTL series "Lifelines", is funny, odd, crazy. Why? Because he is played by Aydin Isik, and Aydin is a successful cabaret artist; he has the comic timing well and truly down. Not too little and certainly not too much — for he is no comedian, to spell out the distinction for those who aren't constantly confronted with these terms. The set photo shows surgeon Dr Laura Seifert (Susan Hoecker) and former Bundeswehr army doctor Dr Alex Rode (Jan Hartmann); the two want to see a patient's results from MRI assistant Tarik Coskun (Aydin Isik), and Tarik is simply in a foul mood because he wants to clock off.
