Pimp my ride — that may well have been the Mercedes engineers'' motto when they designed the new V-Class. At least that was how it struck René Görgen when he got to drive this high-tech vehicle for the Mercedes commercial. As luck would have it, there were some extremely useful things on board for a hot summer''s day in Berlin, such as a fridge and seat cooling. That''s right — not just seat heating, but cooling too. "The car was awesome, absolutely fantastic," is Görgen''s verdict. And he should know, having got to cruise through Berlin in it for a whole day. In the role of a trendy gallery owner, he drives through the capital, picking up friends along the way who want to join him at an exhibition opening. And all of it in the V-Class. Just the way real hipsters get around. The drive was filmed using the very latest technology, namely two 360-degree cameras. One camera was mounted on the roof, the other on the passenger seat. The result is a commercial that''s a lot of fun. The 360-degree cameras allow viewers to look around for themselves as they please during the drive. Using the on-screen navigation, you can direct your gaze in any direction. You can, for instance, take in Berlin just as the roof camera captured the city during the drive. But there is also plenty of interest to observe inside the car, such as René Görgen at the wheel, the guests as they climb aboard, or the vehicle and its fittings themselves. Technology that thrills!
