Klassixs — The Great Dramas in Young Short Films

Apollo, son of the new revue dancer Francesca, spends an unconventional childhood in a circus community shaped by eccentric characters, rigid hierarchies and the abuse of power. His mother Francesca tries by every means to gain a foothold in the troupe and to make her name as a dancer. Little time or space is left for Apollo and his needs. So, with the help of his friend Artemisia, he creates a world entirely of his own, in which reality and his imagination become one. Director Savio Debernardis has crafted a short film that mirrors a hierarchically structured system, with its own morality and constraints, poisoned by the power games of those who move within it. In a collaboration between 3sat and the Film University Babelsberg, director Savio Debernardis realises "Apollo und Artemisia", a short film on the theme of "power and hierarchies in the world's great dramatic literature".
